Intro to

Electric Circuits

The study of analog circuits and included circuit analysis techniques with op-amps and RLC circuits, Laplace-transform techniques, Alternating current and impedance, phasor transforms, sinusoidal steady-state systems, frequency response, and filters. ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING DESIGN

COURSE CONTENT

  • Design, evaluate, theorize, and build, test, and debug simple electrical/computer engineering circuits using voltage and current sources, resistors and capacitors, op amps, and diodes to accomplish specific engineering tasks. 

  • Explain applications in electrical and computer engineering including: electrical circuit design, sensors, signal processing, communications, electromagnetics, control and embedded systems.

  • Program Matlab for applications in electrical & computer engineering.

DESIGN PROJECT

  • I was able to create a circuit diagram for a sensor system using a 9V battery, 1kohm resistor, photoresists, and an LED. Using multisim, I tested various scenarios of voltages and resistance to make sure the LED would turn off when covering the photoresists with my finger.

LOGIC GATES

  • NAND , NOT, and XOR Logic Circuit Gates were built and truth tables were verified through testing..

COMPUTER 

ORGANIZATION

An in-depth study of computer architecture and design, including topics such as RISC and CISC instruction set architectures, CPU organizations, pipelining, memory systems, input/output, and parallel machines. Emphasis is placed on performance measures and compilation issues. Projects were completed using MIPS assembly language.

Digital System Design

The fundamental theory and design methods for digital systems. Topics include: logic functions minimization, combinational circuit design, synchronous and asynchronous sequential circuit design, state diagrams, Mealy and Moore circuits, state minimization and assignment, basic computer organization, and controller implementation. This course also taught the use of software tools for design, minimization, simulation, and schematic capture of digital systems. The digital systems that are designed will be implemented using MSI, LSI, and field programmable gate arrays.
